Paul!
We're so excited because Paul is here!
I'm sure most of you know, but if not, Paul is planning on moving here sometime next year! He'll be working with One by One ministry.
We're so excited to have him come visit for a week and even more excited that he's going to live here!
I love it, love it, love it when people from home come here! It's one of my most favorite things ever. Ever.

Independence Day - Nica Style
Today NCA celebrated Nicaraguan Independence Day. They go ALL out. It's not like 4th of July, where there's just some grilling, fireworks, and hanging out by a pool. Here they celebrate big time!
All the month of August and September the students are learning about their country and their independence. They learn about the state bird, tree, and food (Guadabaranco, Sacuanjoche, gallo pinto). They learn about their independence from Spain. They learn about how the U.S. got too involved with their country and politics (woops!!). I'm always really impressed by how much they know about their country, the people, the culture, and history.
This year they focused on Central America's independence and on cacao ( cocoa bean - makes chocolate, cocoa and some delicious drinks here!)
Basically what happens today is the older students (7th - 12th grade) give a brief story/skit/demonstration about either cacoa or Central America's independence.
Yeah, that's right, Vidal has a gun! The students bring guns, machets, and horses! Can you imagine that in the states?!
"Miss, I have to have this gun for our demonstration of how we fought Spain!"
Life is different here!
Jassiel dressed up like a large woman to show that if you drink too much cacoa, you'll be fat!
OK, so it's really educational and a bit silly.
Then came the dancing!
David's in green. Can you see him?
David and Kathy. Kathy translated for the Woodcreek team that came down in June. She's way cool!
It was a really fun day! One where we get to just hang out with the kids and not just be their teacher, but a friend. AND we have a 5 day weekend! What more could you ask for!?!

Peanut, Peanut Butter (like the song)
We received a wonderful gift from David's parents recently. It's called a Vita Mix. It's like a blender on steroids. If you've never heard of it, you life is not complete! I had seen theirs for years and years and thought nothing of it. Until just recently, I experienced the greatness of it. It's amazing and I love it!
I have made tons and tons of smoothies, cheddar bacon potato soup, bread crumbs, and yesterday I made peanut butter.
That's right! How very domestic of me!

Random Pictures of the Little Man
I am way into eating my toes these days! They taste awesome!
It was a bit "chilly" here, so I put on a long sleeve outfit! The 2nd time in my life!
I really am so cute!
I don't know what to think about this whole pool thing. It's a bit cold for me!
This is for my uncle Barry. I told him I can make such a sad face!

Pics of the new casa
All of these pictures are not good, but might give you an idea of where we live. I've decided that I am officially done with moving in Nicaragua! It's always crazy and done in 1 day and gives me a headache!
Not really.
Our place is wonderful and I'm thankful for it! Now we're just waiting for the other Russells to come!
Our bedroom
Our bathroom - this is the first time we've had a real mirror! Our last little apartments had a mirror about a foot by foot.
Kitchen
Chase and Julie's room/Paul's room in September!
Ok, that's it for now!

and I'm back!
Sorry for the little hiatus ( all 4 of you that read this!).
We've had a pretty busy week! This past weekend David played in the worship band at the church we go to. Not only did he play the piano (like a pro), but he sang as well! He did a great job - I was real impressed!
Side note: Sometimes it irritates me when people have more that one talent. For example, you can sing, play basketball, play the piano, etc., etc. But because he's my husband - I can get over it! :) and I love that I'm married to a multi-talented man! :)
Anyways, the band really did an awesome job of leading us in worship of the Lord. I've been trying to really focus during our singing time of really worshipping (even while holding a baby), so I was thankful for the praise time!
Then on Monday at say noon, we found out we needed to be out of our apartment and moved into our new place the next day! "What?" you may be saying - yeah me too! As most of ya'll know David's brother and sister in law (Chase and Julie) are moving to Nicaragua to work with a ministry here. The fun thing about them moving here is that they are going to live with us!! However, our old apartment didn't have a room for them to stay in! Sooo, we moved to an apartment with one more room for them. It was hectic and crazy, but we did it! And the new place is great! (Pictures to come!)
On Wednesday, I took Beckett to the doctor for his 4 month check up. I can hardly believe he's 4 months old! Each month is better and better! He is now 13 pounds, 4 ounces. Not huge, but doing good! This month has been really fun, because he can do a lot of new things. He's:
-sticking out his tongue
-grabbing his feet and trying to put them in his mouth
-kind of/ sort of laughing!
-grabbing all sorts of things (for example my ceral bowl, which he poured all over himself and me!)
-rolling from his back to tummy (only done once)
-turning his head when he hears a voice
-being oh so loveable!
So that was our week!
More posts to come with pictures - I just have to find where I packed the camera!
